General Overview: Friday’s Student Engagement Sessions present more of the MSU and East Lansing community opportunities available to new students. All new students are required to attend the Colloquium with Your College on Friday afternoon.

Bessey & Erickson Halls

    Student Engagement Sessions are “mini-courses” designed by faculty and staff members to provide new students information and skills that will promote your success.  Two years of research indicates that students who attended the Student Engagement Sessions earned higher grades their first semester at Michigan State University than the students who did not.  Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity to explore topics that are important and interesting to you in a small group setting.

10:00 a.m. - Noon Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Gay, Transgender Resource Center & Gay/Straight Alliance Session, Bessey Hall

    Participants will have the opportunity to meet new and returning lesbian, bi, gay, trans and ally students, learn ab out campus LBGTA resources and involvement opportunities, discuss the "climate" of MSU regarding support for LBGTA persons, and dialog with MSU LBGTA student leaders.

1:00 p.m. Colloquium with Your College

Please see the colloquium schedule for times and locations.

    You are REQUIRED attend this session that completes your introduction to your college and major. Each college will offer sessions where new students will learn more about activities in the college, and have a change to talk in small groups with faculty and instructors about expectations and strategies for success in the particular field of study. The Undergraduate University Division will meet with “no preference” students. Check personalized schedules for locations and times.

2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Broad School New Student Open House, Eppley Center and the North Business College Complex

    The Broad School invites all new students in the College of Business to an official welcome to the College. Students will have the opportunity to mingle with College faculty, advisers, employers and current students, as well as visit the Lear Career Services Center, The School of Hospitality Business and Undergraduate Academic Services. In addition, the College Senate will be hosting a Broad Student Organization Fair where new students can learn about the clubs and activities they can get involved in! Please plan on joining us for great conversation, food and door prizes!
